Black history stories in Jackson County

Despite the stereotypes, Appalachia isn’t inhabited solely by white folk, nor has it ever been. Part of the anti-racist work we have to do in our area is to preserve and promote stories of everyone who has called this place known today as Jackson County home. We’ve been in contact with one of the authors preserving those stories today. Victoria Casey McDonald’s books on African-Americans in Jackson County are out of print, but we have a chance to change that.
